“With this particular painting with the theme: “Vincent van Gogh on the road to tarascona”, a painting that was destroyed during the Second World War, Sebastiano Cannarella pays an unconventional homage to VAN GOGH. Coming to light from a study and admiration with accentuated sensitivity to the troubled life and the art of the great Dutch master. This is evident in the first place from the warm colors of the composition, which are the solar and Mediterranean ones of Provence, a landscape, the latter that fascinated Van Gogh and gave new life to his inspirational strength. Here then is the unfolding of the painting with colors with strong expressive timbres, the composition defined by balanced backgrounds, in which the yellow of the sunflowers shines in all its intensity.
There is a feverish anxiety, a feral voracity in the lines, in the colors, which allows the work to live in a vibrant tension. And it is precisely this inner turbulence that the painting stimulates to read the pictorial message of Van Gogh in its own way, to try to capture not the banal technical-executive truth, the inner motion, the world of his dreams and his desires of his emotions. in which many are reflected.” – Teodosio Martucci editor of the art culture magazine.
